Who’s ready to do some oyster shucking? How does 80,000 pounds of oysters sound? The Lowcountry Oyster Festival is the world’s largest oyster festival and has been named one of the “top 20 events in the southeast” by Southeastern Tourism Society.
Highlights include the legendary “Oyster Shucking” and “Oyster Eating” Contests, live music on the main stage, wine, a selection of domestic and imported beers, a Children’s Area and a “Food Court” showcasing a variety of local favorite restaurants to satisfy everyone’s taste.
Ticket Information
General Admission tickets are $17.50 and include entry, entertainment, a viewing of Boone Hall Plantation, and access to the Pluff-a-Pallooza Children’s Area. Oysters, drinks, and other food items will be sold separately at market price.
VIP tickets are also available for $100 and include easy entry through the VIP ticket line, a voucher for a bucket of oysters, and entry to the VIP tent where food and beverages, as well as a seating area, will be provided. VIP Parking is on a first-come, first-serve basis on the day of the event and can be purchased from your vehicle.
Tickets can be purchased online or in-person at Boone Hall Farms, the Mount Pleasant and Downtown Visitor Centers, and at any Southcoast Bank. Tickets can also be purchased on the day of the event at the gate.
Chairs and blankets are welcome. Tents and coolers are not allowed.
Pluff-a-Pallooza Children’s Area
The Pluff-a-Pallooza kids and family area will be presented in conjunction with the 2015 Lowcountry Oyster Festival. Pluff-a-Pallooza will be a celebration of Pluff Mud, the natural habitat and home of oysters. Entertainment and activities will provide good, clean fun and will focus on celebrating the wonders of the Lowcountry’s nature and the importance of Pluff Mud for the oyster’s ecosystem balance.
Activities will include: the world premiere play of “Pearlie the Amazing Oyster” in the “Theater on the Half-Shell”, a Touch Tank of Lowcountry water animals with the Department of Land and Natural Resources, a meet-and-greet with the Charleston Waterkeepers Organization, entertainment with Miss Irene Rose on the Pluff-a-Pallooza stage, the Pluff Mud Craft Tent, the Sweet Grass Palace, Pluff Muddy Buddies balloon animals, Pluff Mud Cookie Decorating, Corey the Stilt Guy, Limbo with Local Mascots, photo opportunities, an interactive noise play area with The Noisy Oyster, juggling performances, an air-dancer, a bubble area, a jump castle, and much more.
